This is the old hutch that my mom had given me years ago that has since been in storage as you can see. I decided that since I just moved into our new home that this would make a great addition in our kitchen as a coffee bar. I know thats probably hard to vision looking at this picture, but I saw potential. Just needed a little TLC and muscle and it was done.Β
- The first thing I did was move this into my garage and began to wipe clean
- I then removed the cabinets with a screw driver and set the cabinets aside
- I sanded the entire hutch by hand with a sanding paper from walmart and filled in the holes from the cabinet screws with wood filler. Once the wood filler dried I sanded those spots as well.
- Now the fun part, painting! I panted the wood with a white and grey paint mixture from left over interior paint.
- Once the bottom piece was dry I then began to sand random spots. I repeated steps with the top piece.
- Next I wanted to add material to the back part of the wood that is not painted. I couldn’t find the perfect pattern material I wanted so I went with a tablecloth from WallMart. Sounds crazy but it worked. I measure the area and cut the cloth to fit perfectly. I used fabric clue to place it.Β
- I then realized I was going to be needing a hole in the back for the coffee and expresso maker π Good thing my dad and the perfect hold drill bit. I made the hold on each bottom corner.
So there you have it. My new coffee bar. π All I did was add my coffee maker and some decor and it was complete. Oh, and I replaced the light bulb that hangs in the top part of the hutch. π The best part it it matches perfect with the rest of my kitchen!!! Best of luck with your own coffee bar π
This looks amazing, I love it! x
